Summer of Colour - Delicate

This weeks colours are lavender, grey and a splash/pop of plum over at Summer of Colour. I found these sober colours harder to paint with. I usually prefer happier brighter colours, so it has been a  change to play with these and that's what I love about this challenge, as it pushes for something different, colours I wouldn't normally use!

As I was playing I loved how the grey and lavender seemed to blend, how easily lavender can turn to grey. Just as  colourful days can be drained of colour due to external factors, or how if you only look at the grey you may never notice the lavender accents in your day. The limits and boundaries can be fuzzy, it's a delicate line between being positive and happy, making the right choices for yourself or losing yourself in the grey.

Below is another piece I've added a few days from my original link. Playing more and working on an unfinished piece with these colours again created this abstract doodle art.

Wishing much colour and love to all
Kat xx

hello Kat, this is a lovely piece. I do understand how some colors don't come easily for each of us. And only 3 colors is a challenge too. So it is fun to see what it inspires.

This piece displays a confidence and lack of pretense that I find very freeing. It makes me feel like painting is a pleasure and not a struggle.

I found them really hard to work with, too! I haven't been sharing, but I've found this to be such a great challenge.
-The first week was a breeze, because my go-to colour is *always* teal.

Penny said exactly what I was struggling to find words for. This is the work of an accomplished, confident artist. It's really well done, Kat, I seriously love it, it makes me feel more relaxed just looking at it.

What a lovely piece and a great way of describing the colours as sober-you're so right! What a great way to look at being positive as looking for the lavender amongst the grey!

Both your pieces are beautiful, but I especislly love the doodle one. It holds so many secret "rooms" and places to go. I could study it for hours.

I found these colours difficult too, I don't like grey as it seems to kill other colours vibrancy, that said you have made your purple hues dance in your lovely abstract piece.

Very striking and beautiful works of art! I just love how you used this week's SOC colors on both of your creations!

I love both of your paitings - they pop right off the screen for me. I think the first is light and breezy, while the second kind of moody, but in a wonderful way. Your work is an inspiration.

It makes me think of some Oriental silk paintings. Very pretty. I am loving seeing all the different pieces of art.
